PROJECT LIFE CYCLE

1. Reach out to me and we can discuss your vision and needs

2. Use the price guides to get an idea on expected cost of the project

3. For charcoal artwork, you will need to factor custom framing costs vs over the counter ready-made frames.  

4. Provide me with several photos of your object(s) and rank them.  Sometimes additional photos can help with details that may not be clear in your primary photo. 

5. We agree on what you want, media, size, framing and shipping (if applicable)

6. Provide 25% down payment via cash, Venmo, or paypal. 

7. I produce the art piece

8. The artwork will be sprayed with Krylon fine art fixatif. 

9. As a free service, I willl provide you with a video showing the progression of your video when you take delivery of your project.

10. When the project is complete, I will accept final payment for the balance due and then provide the artwork via local pickup at my studio or ship to your location.

FRAMING

It is recommended that you take delivery of your charcoal artwork unframed and work with the picture framer of your choice.  This will allow you flexibility to hand pick frames, matting and other details real time with the framer rather than use me as a middleman.

Charcoal artwork must be framed with matting, preferably double or triple matted.  This ensures that the artwork is not laying on the glass/acrylic as this could cause smudging/smearing even if the piece has been sprayed with a fixatif.  

I can facilitate getting your Charcoal artwork framed at an extra cost.  Michael's custom framing rates and or the manufactured frame of your choice costs would be applied to the commission cost.   If you choose to buy a premade frame and are local to Austin, I would be glad to trim the artwork and fit/install it into your frame.  Premade frames are a great solution if price is of concern.   If you already have a frame that you would like to use for your artwork, we can even create your project to custom fit your existing frame.

I had several pieces of my personal artwork custom framed, double matted enclosed in glass and for the larger charcoal artwork, the framing cost were between $250 and $375 at Michael's.  Cost varies by artwork size, frame and matting choice.  You can see examples in the gallery of professionally framed artwork and artwork installed in ready- made frames.  

It is not cheap to custom frame artwork so do some research and check with local framing shops.  Canvas artwork does not need to be framed as I paint the side of the canvas margins, too.  However, some folks prefer to provide frames for canvas art.  It is a matter of personal taste.  If is this your preference, you will need to take the artwork to a professional framer.
